The 26th of October 1982 the City Council of Florence resolved the settlement of a society aimed to direct the pubblic illumination service (the first in the class in Italy) and later on the 28th of December 1984 the loyer Lando Conti , in Clemente VII hall, Palazzo Vecchio, will stipulate the constitutive act.

The society sees clearly a 30% partecipation of the Town Council and of Piero Branzanti from Ravenna with a 70% in quality of headmaster of the homonymous enterprise that managed, by contract, the service since 1970.

The society so long formed, which will assume the social reason of Silfi Florence illumination society spa, is assigned the management of the entire pubblic illumination grid of Florences Council in all its aspects: urgent maintenance, ordinary, straordinary and programed, planning and retraining of the implants.

Most significant achievements
For what concerns the pubblic and artistic illumination, with the double aim in locating in evidence the buildings or the most important monuments and to contribute to the retraining of some urban districts; the Silfispa co-operating with qualified people of pubblic offices, has took care of the project and the realization of an impressive number of issues, such as: the ancient doors of the city, Basilica of S.Maria del Fiore with the dome of Brunelleschi and Giotto's bell-tower; the revision and the strengthening of the artistic illumination of the main Florentine churches in concomitance with the Jubilee of 2000 such as: San Miniato, San Salvatore a Monte, Cestello, Carmine, Santo Spirito, San Marco.
Besides for other purchasers like Enel: piazza del Campo in Siena and Piazza SS. Annunziata in Florence.
